Sully (2016)

Starring Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley Sullenberger

On January 2009, a flock of birds collided with US Airways Flight 1549, destroying both engines. To save everyone on board, captain Sully disobeyed instructions and decided to crash land the plane that was carrying 155 passengers into the Hudson River. Miraculously, all passengers and crew members survived and captain Sully immediately became a hero.

Later investigations and flight simulations show that Flight 1549 could have successful landed at nearby runways suggesting that Sully’s decision to carryout a crash landing was an expensive one that had endangered the lives of everyone on board. This was no news to Sully as he had been questioning his decision immediately after his landing. He is left to uphold his actions in front of the National Transportation Safety Board.

Reasons to watch high: One of the biggest side effects of getting high, especially for new pot smokers is paranoia. The first few times I got high, I felt like everyone was looking me. In Sully’s case, he made world news as a heroic pilot but he knew that could change over night. The film takes paranoia to a new level.

You get to watch the movie from Sully’s perspective as he soars over city streets and flies in between sky scrappers. Any wrong move could have resulted in another 9-11. The film takes a turn when Sully undergoes investigation and you start seeing the film through an investigative standpoint where Sully is the culprit. Each perspective is convincing and you won’t know until the end.

Sully was an amazing movie and even more amazing when watched high.
